SAINT PETER, Minn. – The Bethel University men's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to Gustavus Adolphus Wednesday afternoon at Gustie Soccer Field. Four second half goals from the Gusties dropped Bethel to 6-8 on the year and 1-6 in MIAC play. The Royals look to snap their five-match losing streak Saturday when they host Augsburg at 1 p.m.
Bethel was unable to clear out a flurry of headers by Gustavus allowing the Gusties to break the scoreless time. Reigning MIAC Player of the Week Raphael Cattelin headed in the go-ahead goal in the 57th minute.
A few minutes later the Royals created a corner kick opportunity on one of its better looks from
Reed Kaper whose shot was just high of the frame. Off the corner,
Brandon Martinez-Luhman almost had a good look at a header before being swarmed by the Gusties defense.
Gustavus' second goal came off a corner kick in the 73rd minute before adding goals in the 77th and 83rd minute. GAC outshot the Royals 21-10 in the match and 12-2 in shots on goal.
