WINONA, Minn. - The Bethel University men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to Saint Mary's University Saturday afternoon. Two unanswered goals by the host Cardinals including the game-winner in the 100th minute bested the Royals.
Bethel looks to end its four-match losing skid Wednesday at Gustavus Adolphus. Start time is set for 3:30 p.m. in St. Peter.
Brandon Martinez-Luhman put the Royals on the board finding the back of the net on his only shot of the match in the 39th minute. What had been played as an evenly offensive match in the shot column was evened up in the scoring column by the Cardinals in the 78th minute.
SMU took over in the overtime period putting the pressure on goalkeeper
