Ogne's OT Winner Gives Bethel 2-1 Victory Over the Oles

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - The Bethel University women's soccer team pulled out a hard fought, 2-1 victory over the St. Olaf College Oles when Brooke Ogne scored with just 1:40 remaining in overtime. Ogne took a cross into the box from Maggie Sipe and finished to give the Royals the thrilling win. Bethel outshot St. Olaf 23-11 for the game and 10-8 in shots on goal while also holding a 10-4 advantage on corner kicks.

Britney Monteon got the scoring started early for Bethel as just four and a half minutes into the game she gave Bethel a 1-0 lead. The Oles were able to tie the game up in the 23rd minute however and the score would remain 1-1 all the way into the overtime period despite great chances from both teams. After falling in heartbreaking fashion to Augsburg by a 2-1 score in overtime in their previous outing, the Royals refused to let the Oles do the same. Ogne's score was her fourth of the year and second game winner. Monteon and freshman Rachel Waterman, who was not in the lineup for Bethel against St. Olaf with an injury, lead the Royals with five goals each on the season.

Next up for Bethel is the always tough Wildcats from St. Catherine University. The Royals will host SCU with a 1 p.m. gametime on Saturday, September 22nd.
