Bethel Dominates at Macalester, 4-0

ST. PAUL - The Bethel University women's soccer team put up an impressive performance under the lights at Macalester Saturday night, scoring three second half goals to pull away with a 4-0 victory. Bethel scored once in the first half and then poured it on early and often in the second half. Britney Monteon scored once and assisted twice for the Royals who outshot the Scots 17-11 in the game, 9-3 in shots on goal.

Bethel was creating chances and controlling the ball for much of the first half when Brooke Ogne scored the first goal of the game in the 37th minute. Monteon set Ogne up who finished a low shot past the keeper. Just 35 seconds into the second half Monteon again set up a teammate, this time Maggie Sipe who finished to put Bethel up 2-0. Monteon then did it all herself in creating a fast break off an assist from Tessah Anderson and finishing to make it 3-0 in the 50th minute. The Royals final score came at 70:31 as Karlie Perkins scored off an assist from Anderson on a free kick.

The win for Bethel moves them into second place alone in the MIAC standings with a 6-1-1 record, behind only first place and unbeaten St. Thomas. Overall the Royals stand at 11-2-1 on the year. Macalester falls to 3-7-3 and 0-5-3 in the MIAC. The Royals will take a week off before hosting the Knights of Carleton College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
