Bethel Beats Hamline, 3-1

ST. PAUL - The Bethel University men's soccer team found themselves back in the win column on Wednesday evening after a 3-1 victory over Hamline University. The Royals scored a pair of goals in each half surrounded by an own goal to take down the Pipers. Brendan Reich scored the first goal of the game just 4:18 in. After the Pipers scored late in the first half to tie the game up, Bethel benefited from an own goal early in the second half to take the lead back. To seal the victory, Paul Aguirre scored in the 60th minute to make the score 3-1 and the Royals held on the rest of the way.

The win for Bethel is the first in MIAC play as they improve to 1-5-0 and 4-9-0 overall. Hamline drops to 2-3-1 in the MIAC and 5-4-1 overall. The two teams were perfectly even in shots both in the first (six each) and second (seven each) halves. The Royals owned a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal however.

Bethel will now turn their attention to the Macalester College Scots as they will be back in St. Paul on Saturday evening for a 5 p.m. matchup.
