Week 2 Preview: Bethel Travels to Carthage for First Road Test
ARDEN HILLS, Minn. — Bethel University's football program travels to Kenosha, Wis., Saturday for their first road test of the 2017 season at Carthage College. The Royals and Red Men, who played each other for the first time one year ago, are scheduled to kickoff at 12 p.m.

Last year's matchup, which resulted in a 40-34 overtime win for Carthage in Arden Hills, could have gone either way. The Red Men began the game with a pair of field goals, but the Royals stormed back with three touchdowns to claim the 21-6 lead with 8:52 remaining in the second quarter. Carthage cut into the deficit with a touchdown and missed PAT before BU closed out the half with their fourth score of the game. Despite leading 28-12 after the halftime intermission, Bethel allowed the Red Men to score three straight touchdowns, including the last, which came with 1:38 left in regulation. The Royals tallied the equalizer with 25 seconds remaining, but a missed PAT sent the game into overtime where Carthage stopped BU's offense and scored a touchdown on their first possession.Â
