MENOMONIE, Wis. - The Bethel University women's soccer team traveled just over the Wisconsin border Thursday night to take on the University of Wisconsin-Stout and came away with a 1-1 tie. Both teams scored early in the first half but not again in the remaining 100 minutes of action despite plenty of shots.
Maggie Sipe got the Royals going with a goal just 2:21 into the contest.
Sophie Kendall's cross gave Sipe the room to work in the center of the field. UW-Stout was able to tie the game with a header goal in the 10th minute. Despite a total of 19 shots and six on goal for the Blue Devils and 12 shots for the Royals with eight on goal, neither team scored again.
Kaylee Peterson made five saves for the Royals in her 110 minutes played.
The tie leaves Bethel with a 3-3-1 overall record while UW-Stout is now 1-4-2. Bethel's next action comes Saturday at St. Catherine's University in St. Paul at 1 p.m.
