ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - The Bethel Royals were defeated by the Simpson College Storm 4-1 on a sunny day at the Ona Orth Complex. The Storm got the scoring started in the 20
th minute when Colin Robinson scored a goal off a nice feed from Nick Joslyn and never looked back.
Simpson added another a goal minutes later when Tanner Alderton got free from the Royals defense and scored, putting the Storm up 2-0. With less than 30 seconds left in the first half the Royals were able to cut the deficit in half when
Ryan Petersen was able to find the back of the net off a great pass from
Andrew Hintz. That made the score 2-1 going into half. The goal was the first of Petersen's career at Bethel.
The Storm added two more goals in the second half. Both went unassisted as Garrett Pochop and Connor Robson scored on great individual efforts to put the game out of reach for the Royals. Simpson outshot Bethel 16-4 for the game.
Simpson improved to 7-0 on the season while the Royals fall to 3-5-1 after the final non-conference game of the season. Bethel plays next Tuesday Sept. 26 when they travel to St. Mary's for a MIAC match. They will not return home until Saturday Sept. 30 when they host St. John's, with kickoff for that game at 1 pm.
