NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Bethel University men's soccer team scored off of a corner kick with just 57 seconds remaining in regulation to take a 1-0 victory over the St. Olaf College Oles. The Royals and Oles were engaged in scoreless tie in both teams MIAC openers before Bethel's
Thomas Redden found the back of the net off of a corner, one of seven generated by Bethel.
St. Olaf was able to outshoot the Royals 15-3 with all of Bethel's shots coming in the second half with two on goal but thanks to goalie
Colton Syler and the Royals defense the one score was enough to take the hard fought victory. Syler made five saves on the night for Bethel to get his second straight victory.
The win for Bethel improves them to 2-3-1 overall and 1-0 in the ultra competitive MIAC. Bethel will look to win their third straight on Saturday when they host the Augsburg College Auggies at 1 p.m. at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex.
