NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Bethel University women's soccer team engaged in a very competitive and eveny matched game in their MIAC opener Tuesday evening but fell by a 1-0 score to the St. Olaf College Oles. The lone goal was scored in the 69th minute by St. Olaf as the Royals three game winning streak in which they scored 22 goals was snapped.
The Oles outshot Bethel 7-2 in the first half and the Royals held a 9-8 advantage in the second half. The Oles put six shots on goal to three for Bethel. The Royals held a significant advantage on corner kicks at 13-1, generating twelve in the second half alone, but were unable to convert those chances into goals.
Kaylee Peterson made five saves in goal for Bethel.
The Royals will return home for just the second time this year on Saturday afternoon when they host the Augsburg University Auggies as part of a doubleheader with the men at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex. The women will kick off at approximately 3:30 p.m. following the men's game between the Royals and Auggies.
