ASHLAND, Wis. - The Bethel University women's soccer team enjoyed their trip to northern Wisconsin with a 6-0 victory over the Northland College Lumberjills, scoring five times in the first half. Freshman
Karlie Perkins scored the Royals first and last goals of the game while four other Royals scored once. Bethel took 22 shots in the game while Northland managed just one while the Royals generated 14 corner kicks to none for the 'Jills.
Perkins started the scoring off for Bethel with her goal in the 18th minute with an assist from
Brooke Ogne. The Royals then turned up the heat, scoring three times within a five minute period between the 30th and 35th minutes.
Rachel Ness scored first with an assist from
Sarah Gielau. Bethel's leading scorer then got in on the action as
Maggie Sipe scored unassisted.
Maria Retting then scored off a corner kick from
Sophie Kendall to put Bethel up 4-0. The Royals weren't done in the first half as Kendall scored unassisted with just three seconds remaining in the first half. Perkins scored the lone goal of the second half at 61:37 with an assist from
Sydney Wight.
The Royals improved to 3-1 as they now turn their attention to MIAC play, traveling to Northfield, Minnesota on Tuesday to take on the Oles from St. Olaf College.
