MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.— The Royals fell to St. Thomas on Saturday night by a score of 1-8 in a well fought match. Bethel came into this match riding a six-game winning streak but were unable to withstand the play of the defending MIAC Champion Tommies. The Royals got off to a tough start, losing all three doubles matches. Singles was the same story, as junior
Mattie Kidder was the highlight of the night, getting the only win for Bethel at No. 2 singles.
Â
Both No. 1 doubles,
Sydney Parkinson and
Jill Weinzettel, and No. 3 doubles,
Sami Hindt and
Mattie Lubben, lost 5-8 in tight matches.Â
Mattie Kidder and
Anna Browning had similar luck at No. 2 doubles, losing 2-8. St. Thomas proved to be just as dominant in singles, as they won all but one match. At No. 2 singles,
Mattie Kidder had one of the best performances of her career as she came from behind to win the first set tiebreaker 7-6(8) and then won the third set tiebreaker 10-5.Â
