Week 9 Preview: Royals Return Home for Rendezvous with Auggies

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. — Bethel University's football team plays host to Augsburg University on Saturday, November 4 at 1 p.m. The contest between the Royals and Auggies will be the 43rd meeting between these two opponents. Bethel's 16-game win streak over Augsburg was snapped when the Auggies outlasted BU 62-61 in 2014 and 49-42 in 2015. But the Royals cruised to a 62-27 victory in Minneapolis last year to improve their all-time record against Augsburg to 24-15-3.

The Auggies had plenty of tricks against the Royals in last year's meeting as they successfully ran two fake punts—one for a 70-yard touchdown, recovered an onside kick, and threw a halfback touchdown pass, all in the first half. All that lead to a 27-27 tie with 3:33 remaining in the first half, but Bethel outscored Augsburg 35-0 in the final 33:33 to secure the 62-27 victory.
