Week 8 Preview: Bethel Travels to St. Paul for Battle with No. 4-Ranked Tommies

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. — Bethel University's football team travels to St. Paul, Minn., Saturday for a 1:10 p.m. battle with the University of St. Thomas. Saturday's contest is the 41st meeting between these two opponents. St. Thomas holds a 23-16-1 advantage over Bethel, but the Royals are 3-5 against the Tommies dating back to 2010. No other team across the conference has defeated UST as many times during that stretch. St. Thomas defeated BU at Royal Stadium in Arden Hills by a final score of 27-6 in 2016.

St. Thomas defeated Bethel 27-6 one year ago, however, the 21-point spread fails to tell the whole story as the Royals had two touchdowns called back due to penalties and three other occasions inside the 10-yard line that resulted in a turnover-on-downs. Slippery conditions led to more than six dropped passes, including two sure-fire touchdowns.
