ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - The Bethel Royals and St. John's Johnnies ended up in a 1-1 tie Saturday at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex thanks to a goal by the Johnnies Paul Wadsworth in the 89
th minute.
The first half was action packed but did not feature any scoring. Both sides created chances as Saint John's outshot Bethel 6-4 in the first half, but the score remained zeros headed into the second half. The Royals got the scoring going in the 70
th minute when
Andrew Zwart scored on a great pass from
Kevin Hintz. The lead lasted 19 minutes until the Johnnies scored the equalizer and nobody scored in either of the 10 minute overtimes.
The game featured high tension play from both sides as the referee handed out a total of six yellow cards, four to Bethel and two to Saint John's. There was also 25 fouls called in the game, 15 on Bethel and 10 on Saint John's.
Next the Royals travel to Gustavus on Saturday, October 7. They return home Wednesday, October 11th where they will host Hamline with kickoff for that game at 4 pm.
