NAPERVILLE, Ill. – A lengthy second game for the Bethel University women's soccer team ended in a 1-1 tie after two overtime periods Sunday afternoon against North Central College. Despite having extra time on the clock, the game was fast-paced with sophomore
Maggie Sipe and junior
Samantha Provost taking a few shots early in the first half.
North Central scored 32 minutes into the game, keeping the score at 0-1 for most of the game. Sipe scored her first goal of the season with eight minutes left on the clock in the second half, tying up the game at 1-1 and carrying the team into overtime.
Both teams' offense picked up their game in overtime with shots at both nets. Goalie
Dylan Melby didn't let the ball slip through her fingers for the two, 10-minute periods, keeping the score an even 1-1 up through the end of the game.
The tie leaves Bethel with an 0-1-1 record. The women will travel to Mankato on Thursday, September 8th at 7 p.m. to challenge Bethany Lutheran College before their first home game at Ona Orth Athletic Complex this Saturday.
