Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Conrad Engstrom - Student Assistant

Bethel Falls on the Road at Carleton, 4-1

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The Bethel University men's soccer team suffered a tough loss Tuesday afternoon against the Carleton College Knights falling 4-1. The Knights put the pressure on early scoring three goals in the first half, all of which came within a 10 minute stretch, to take a 3-0 lead into the half.

"The scoreboard is a bit deceptive as I thought we played a fairly decent game," Coach Iwaszkowiec said. "We had about 12 minutes that we would like to have back but other than that I really enjoyed our effort and mindset."

"Unfortunately, the whole game turned when we were on the wrong side of a referee decision. The momentum completely shifted and we struggled mentally after conceding a goal on what seemed like an injustice against us."

The Royals were able to put up their lone goal of the game early in the second half when Carson Thomas scored off a nice assist from Thomas Redden. The goal came off a corner kick.

"We came out well in the second half and scored again from a set piece," Iwaszkowiec said. "We pushed to get a second and were unlucky to concede a  fourth at the very end."

The Royals are still winless in conference play, falling to 0-3-1 with an overall record of 5-4-1. The Royals play a non-conference game against Wartburg Wednesday at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex at 4 p.m.
