NEW ULM, Minn. – After five home games, the Bethel women traveled to Martin Luther College where they defeated the Knights 2-0. The Royals had an exciting start as freshman
Maria Retting scored within the first 33 seconds.
Bethel was in control of the ball the majority of the game as they took 31 shots on the goal between both halves. Their second goal was an impressive long shot scored by freshman
Alicia Halikas with a right cross assist from sophomore
Maggie Sipe. Halikas now has a three goal record so far this season.
After two goals in 24 minutes, neither the Royals nor the Knights were able to score a goal the rest of the way as they fought the windy fall weather. Both teams created fewer scoring opportunities for themselves during the second half, keeping the score at 2-0 and giving Bethel another win, their sixth in a row.
The Royal women will have their third MIAC game on Wednesday, September 28th at 4 p.m. in Northfield against Carleton College. Following Wednesday, they will return home to the Ona Orth Athletic Complex on Saturday, October 1st and play Augsburg College in the afternoon at 1 p.m.
