ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Royals finished their fourth game on their home field at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex with a blowout 5-0 win against the University of Wisconsin-Superior. While the game started off with both teams with an even possession of the ball, it wasn't long until the Bethel women took control and scoring with a shot by sophomore
Maggie Sipe. An exciting 14 shots on the goal were made in the first half, and another impressive 21 shots were made in the second. The Yellowjackets only had two shots the entire game, not being able to score against freshman goalies
Dylan Melby and
Kaylee Peterson.
The Bethel women had plenty of corner kick opportunities during the game that led to many shots on the goal. Senior
Mikayla Nordin had a strong game today as she scored two goals for the team within five minutes.
Maggie Sipe, adding two more goals on to an already successful start to her year, now sits with six goals this 2016 season.
Right before a substitution, freshman
Alicia Halikas scored her second goal of the season with less than seven minutes on the clock. Along with a strong offense came an equally as strong defense, keeping the ball on the Yellowjackets side of the field the majority of the game.
Today's win gives the Royals a 3-1-1 record. The next contest for the Royals will be Tuesday's non-conference matchup with the Northwestern Eagles at 4 p.m. before Bethel returns to MIAC play when they host Saint Mary's University next Saturday.
