Arden Hills, MN -- Bethel softball's four-game winning streak came to an end today, as the Royals [10-14, 5-5 MIAC] dropped both games in Saturday's doubleheader versus Hamline. The Pipers [14-10, 7-3 MIAC] took both games by final scores of 5-2 and 6-1.

Game one began with three scoreless innings for the Royals, but the Pipers had already scored five going into the bottom of the fourth. A two-run blast from Micayla Moore in the bottom of the fourth brought the Royals within three. Unfortunately, the following three innings would remain scoreless, as the Royals fell in game one 5-2.

Game two didn't wasn't much different. The Royals got on the board in the bottom of the fourth after a groundout from Anna Nichols brought in Casey Marcus to make it 2-1. The Pipers would score three more in the fifth and sixth innings, though, and went on to top the Royals 6-1 in game two.

Micayla Moore's homer in game one brought her season total to five, tying Kivisto for the most in the MIAC. Moore was 1-6 with a two RBI. Kivisto was 4-7 at the plate, 3-4 in game one alone. Anna Nichols went 1-6 with one RBI.

Karli Persson pitched in both games, allowing three earned runs in nine innings pitched. Persson also threw three total strikeouts.

The Royals will need to have a short memory, as they get right back to the diamond Sunday afternoon for another tough MIAC battle against the College of Saint Benedict. The first pitch against the Blazers is scheduled for 1 p.m. in St. Joseph, Minnesota.
