Royals Rout Northland Again to Complete Series Sweep

BLAINE, Minn. – The Bethel University women's hockey team completed the 2016 portion of their schedule with a series sweep of Northland College, putting up five more goals again Saturday afternoon in their 5-1 victory. Sarina Goos and Abby Felton both scored twice for the Royals and Erika Geary recorded the other goal for Bethel who fired off a season high 56 shots. Bethel's 10 goals in the two games against Northland came from six different players with Goos and Felton each scoring three times in the series.

The Royals scoring pattern was the same as Friday nights win over Northland, with two scores in each of the first two periods and a single score in the third period. The only difference was the LumberJills were able to get a goal of their own late in the third period. Lauren Kolak totaled three assists in the contest while Kaitlyn VanTassel, Sarah Moy and Megan O'Brian all had two assists and Natalie Simons added one assist on the Royals five goals. Maggie Straka made 17 saves playing all 60 minutes in goal.

The Royals will now take a break for the end of the semester and the Holiday break. Bethel will be traveling over the break to Europe for 11 days. From December 17-27 the squad will play several games against local women's teams in Italy and Switzerland. They will spend half of the trip in northern Italy, where they will travel into Switzerland, and the other half in Rome. When they return to action in the U.S. it will be another non-conference series against Concordia University-Wisconsin on January 6th and 7th.
