Royals Fall to No. 13-ranked St. Thomas, Remain in 3rd Place in MIAC Standings

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Bethel University women's soccer team fought hard Wednesday afternoon at league leading and No. 13 ranked St. Thomas, but were defeated with a 4-0 loss. Despite the challenge to keep the ball away from their end of the field, the Bethel women couldn't hold back the Tommies from scoring 10 minutes before the end of the first half.

The Tommies' quick plays scored them an impressive three goals during the first 20 minutes of the second half, and though the Royals were unable to score during either half, the team became more aggressive and more shots were made later in the game. Senior Mikayla Nordin and sophomore Maggie Sipe together took a total of three shots after St. Thomas' third goal of the game.  The game ended with the Tommies scoring their final shot at a time of 77:26.

The loss was only the Royals' fourth out of fifteen games this season with one ending in a tie and the rest solid wins. They stand with a conference record of 5-3-0. With three final MIAC games left in the season, the Royals are looking to continue the playoff fight with an ultimate goal to hose a first-round MIAC playoff game by finishing in the top-four as they currently are in third place. Bethel's next game will be held on Saturday, October 22nd at 1 p.m. in Moorhead, Minnesota against Concordia College. Following Saturday's game will be their final home game at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex in the regular season on Wednesday, October 26th, at 3:30 p.m against Hamline University.
