Bethel Completes Late Comeback at Concordia with Ogne's Overtime Winner

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The women's soccer team of Bethel University experienced a suspenseful game to say the least. The Royals found themselves down 2-0 well into the second half before mounting a great comeback, highlighted by Brook Ogne's overtime game winner to lift the Royals to a 3-2 victory. Within 11 minutes, senior Emily Wendorff of Concordia-Moorhead scored her team's first of two goals of the game, this being her first goal of the season. Only 20 minutes later did the Cobbers score yet again, the second goal also credited to Wendorff.

The Royals remained scoreless until 20 minutes into the second half when senior Mikayla Nordin scored her eighth goal of the season, assisted by sophomore Sydney Wight. Freshman Alicia Halikas was helpful in turning the game around as she scored her fifth goal of the season with five minutes left in the game. The women entered into overtime at a 2-2 tie with the Cobbers.

Bethel was quick on their feet as they worked towards a goal in their swift 10 minutes of overtime.  Freshman Brooke Ogne successfully shot the winning goal, assisted by Halikas, with six minutes to spare.

With their 3-2 win against Concordia, the Royals hold a season overall record of 11-4-1, and with two MIAC games to go, they are standing with a 6-3-0 record and are in third place in the conference standings. The Bethel women only have two games left with the upcoming game against Hamline University at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex on Wednesday, October 26th at 3:30 p.m. Their final game will be played in St. Paul against Macalester College on Saturday, October 29th at 7 p.m.
