3-1 Victory over St. Olaf Gives Bethel Fourth Straight in MIAC Play

ARDEN HILLS, Minn.—Bethel University's volleyball team won its fourth consecutive match against a MIAC opponent, defeating St. Olaf at home Wednesday evening by a final of 3-1. The Royals (14-7, 4-3 MIAC) overcame a 25-22 setback in the opening frame with a 25-23, 25-18, and 25-19 result in the second, third, and fourth sets. BU battled all night, overpowering a scrappy Ole (9-13, 0-7 MIAC) squad with 68.0 points on 50 kills, seven aces, and 11 blocks. Bethel also finished the conference showdown with 48 assists and 67 digs.
 
Leading the way offensively for the Royals was Carlee Hoppe, who manufactured 14 kills and seven errors on 44 attempts (.159) alongside 13 digs. Callie Sinclair and Tina Hoppe both finished with double-digit kills as well, as the two tallied 11 and 10, respectively. Brooke Olstad continued to shine, as the sophomore right side mustered eight kills, six digs, and a team-high .368 hitting percentage.
 
Katie Lubben recorded a match-high 23 assists and eight digs for the Royals, while Holly Ellwanger posted 19 assists, eight digs, and four service aces. Leading BU in the back row was Dominique Dabu, who gathered 17 digs. Also providing a sound defensive effort was Emily Kukacka, who had a match-high seven block assists.
 
Lauren Powers led the Oles with 17 kills and a .270 hitting percentage, while Abby Slack finished with a match-high 21 digs.
 
The Royals put their four-match winning streak to the test Saturday, when they travel down 35W to take on Augsburg College in Si Melby Hall. BU and the Auggies are scheduled to start at 3 p.m. (Live stats / Live video)
