Stevens Point, Wis.—The streak continued Friday night for the Bethel University volleyball team, as the Royals defeated two more teams at the UW-Stevens Point tournament. BU's sweep over Ripon and 3-1 victory against Hamline improved Bethel's early season record to 8-0 with a match against No. 6-ranked UW-Stevens Point lurking on the horizon Saturday afternoon.

The Royals made quick work of Ripon in the opening match, winning by final scores of 25-22, 25-15, and 25-16. BU finished the contest with 45 kills and a .287 hitting percentage.
Nicole Deberry was a big reason why BU posted eight blocks, opposed to Ripon's zero.

Deberry posted eight block assists throughout the match, while
Kristin Stern and
Tegan LaBerge each ended with four. LaBerge was also one of two players to tally double-digit kills, as she slammed 10 in 22 total attempts.
Leading the way offensively for the Royals was
Carlee Hoppe, who manufactured 12 kills and a match-high 16 digs.
Kali Johnson also finished the nonconference matchup with 11 digs.
Katie Lubben led all players with 33 assists.

The second match went similarly with the exception of a minor hiccup in the third set against the Pipers. Bethel topped Hamline with scores of 25-15, 25-15, 23-25, and 25-20. BU completed the four-set affair with 56 kills in 161 attempts (.224), while holding Hamline to a hitting percentage of .094.

Katie Lubben again went over 30 assists, as the junior setter finished with 35 assists and 13 digs. Leading the team from the back row was
Kali Johnson, who dug out 20 attacks for the Royals. Also making noise defensively was
Kristin Stern,
Carlee Hoppe, and
Tina Hoppe, who each had two block assists.

Middle blockers
Tegan LaBerge and
Kristin Stern dominated the Pipers throughout the entire evening match. LaBerge finished with 16 kills and a .400 hitting percentage, while Stern went off for 12 kills and a .407 mark.
Carlee Hoppe also mustered 12 kills.

The Royals closeout their weekend with two very tough matches Saturday afternoon, as they take on tournament host UW-Stevens Point and John Carroll University—a team that took the No. 6-ranked Pointers five sets late Friday night. Match times Saturday afternoon are scheduled for noon and 2 p.m.
