Defending Champ Blazers Blank Bethel, 2-0

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Bethel University women's soccer team traveled to face defending MIAC champion Saint Benedict Saturday afternoon and came up empty by a 2-0 score. The Royals were able to keep the high-powered Blazers off the scoreboard except for a three minute stretch mid-way through the first period when CSB scored both of their goals. None of Bethel's five shots on goal where successful while CSB put 8 shots on goal, two finding their way in.

Bethel's Kathryn McGaffey played the second half in net for Bethel and made two saves without allowing a goal. Mikala Smith had two shots on goal for Bethel, the lone Royal with more than one.

With the loss Bethel falls to 1-7-3 on the season and 1-5 in the MIAC. Saint Ben's improved to 11-2 and 5-1. The Royals will be in action Wednesday afternoon when they host the Concordia College Cobbers with a rare 1 p.m. weekday start as part of a doubleheader with the Bethel men taking on the Cobbers following the women.
