Early Goals Doom Royals on the Road

Three goals within the first 15 minutes proved to be too much for Bethel

Box Score

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Three goals within the first 15 minutes was too much for the Bethel University men's soccer team to overcome in a 4-2 loss on the road to No. 17 St. Olaf. St. Olaf added another goal before the half and led 4-1 before Bethel added another goal in the second half. The loss comes in the opening game of Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) play and drops the Royals to 2-3 overall. St. Olaf improved to 5-1

"It was a very disappointing way to start our conference play," said Bethel head coach Jeremy Iwaszkowiec. "We came out flat and lacking any sense of passion and desire in the first half. If we want to compete, we have to stop conceding soft goals. We need to regroup and mentally recover quickly as we host Augsburg on Saturday and need a good showing."

Matthew Pisarski scored the first goal for Bethel, getting a through ball from Danny Jaderholm and finding the open field for his third goal of the season. In the second half Kolten Fischer scored the lone goal in the period. Fischer scored after the Oles goalies clearing attempt was blocked. It was the senior's first goal of the season.

Bethel will be back in action on Saturday as they host Augsburg College at 1 p.m. at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex.
