ROSEMOUNT, Minn.—Three home runs—two from Angie Jackson (So., Oakdale, Minn.) and one from Kalyn Sorensen (So., Maple Grove, Minn.)—were critical in Friday night's double header sweep over Macalester College at the Irish Sports Dome in Rosemount, Minn. The Royals (15-11, 6-4 MIAC) eight-runned the Scots (11-15, 3-5 MIAC) 10-2 in six innings before outlasting Macalester in game two 9-6.

Bethel utilized a five-run fifth inning in the first contest and got a standout performance from Karli Persson (Fr., Albany, Minn.) on the pitching rubber to stun Macalester 10-2. Persson dealt a two-hit, two-run performance in six innings, while striking out six and walking none.

Four players recorded at least two hits in game one, with Megan Matson (Sr., Mound, Minn.) leading the pack with a 3-for-4 performance—driving in four runs and scoring two more. Jess Newstrom (Sr., Cambridge, Minn.) finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run scored, while Angie Jackson and Rachel Gilbert (Sr., Becker, Minn.) each tallied two hits and one walk.

Game two showcased Bethel's power at the plate, as Angie Jackson's two home runs and Kalyn Sorensen's homer plated seven of the Royals nine runs. Jackson finished 4-for-4 in game two—driving in four runs and scoring two more. Last week's MIAC Softball Player of the Week is now 12-for-13 with four walks, seven RBI, and seven runs scored in the last four games with three home runs.

Logan Ahlness finished the second game 3-for-3 with two runs scored and a pair of defensive gems, including a sliding catch behind first base and a 4-6-3 double play. Newstrom had another multi-hit effort—finishing 2-for-3 with one run scored and one driven in.

Courtney Saurer gave up five earned runs in 5.2 innings pitched, striking out four and walking one in her sixth win of the season. Karli Persson came in with two outs in the top of the sixth inning and pitched 1.1 innings of relief for her first collegiate save.

The Royals scheduled series against Carleton Saturday, April 21 has been postponed until April 28. Depending upon the weather, Bethel will play its next double header Tuesday, April 24 at Augsburg College. First pitch is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. with live stats and webcast available here.
