ST. PAUL—Bethel University's women's basketball team improved to 4-0 on the early season with a 70-53 win over Macalester College. The Royals (4-0, 2-0 MIAC) held a narrow margin at the midway point, but marched to its triumphant win with a 43-28 advantage over the Scots (1-5, 0-3 MIAC) in the second period.

Rachel Parupsky and
Sydney Schultz led BU's second-half charge, as the pair of sophomores scored 11 points in the final 20 minutes. Parupsky ended the contest with 20 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks, while Schultz added 13 points on 4-of-9 shooting. Parupsky's biggest impact came at the free throw line, as she cashed in on 10-of-12 free throws to help Bethel go 22-of-30 from the foul line.
Hannah Niewald also added nine points to Bethel's total.

The Royals were outrebounded 43-50, but demolished the Scots in the paint. BU finished the game with a 42-12 advantage in points scored in the paint. Bethel also outscored Macalester 24-17 in points off turnovers.
