Box Score

ARDEN HILLS, Minn.—Despite having their six-game win streak snapped by a two-point loss Wednesday night, Bethel University quickly got back to its winning ways Saturday with a 77-45 win over Martin Luther College. The Royals (7-2, 3-1 MIAC) held the opposing Knights (0-9, 0-0 UMAC) to 16 points in the second half en route to a nonconference win at the Robertson Center Gym.

A balanced scoring attack helped Bethel open the initial half with a 40-29 lead. Nobody was in double figures, but four individuals on the Royals roster had seven points or more. BU shot 48 percent from the floor and 85 percent from the foul line on 11-of-13 shooting to go into the locker room with an 11-point edge.

The Royals then came out of the midway mark with a 30-7 surge over a 13-minute time span, which helped Bethel secure its fourth nonconference victory of the season. BU shot a cool 46 percent in the second period, while going 5-of-12 from downtown.

Freshman Trevor Hall led Bethel in scoring following Saturday's triumph, shooting 5-of-9 from the floor and 3-of-5 from beyond the 3-point arc for 14 points, alongside three rebounds, three assists, and two blocks. Freshman counterpart, Brycen Wojta, added 12 points, four boards, four steals, and one assist. Kyle Zimmermann was the third player in the Bethel trio to score in double figures, finishing the contest with 11 points, 12 rebounds—his fourth double-double of the season and second straight—four blocks, and two steals.

Altogether, Bethel shot 47.3 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Knights 44-33. The Royals also took advantage of 18 MLC turnovers by scoring 21 points off turnovers. BU owned the points in the paint margin with a 26-16 advantage and also collected 27 points from its bench.

Todd Brassow led the Martin Luther with 17 points and three assists. The Royals held the Knights' Galen Holzhueter, who came in with a 20.6 points per game average, to two points.

Bethel will take a three-week break before it returns to the hardwood for competition. The Royals will finish their season with 16 consecutive matchups against conference opponents, beginning with a road test at Saint John's for their first game back on Saturday, January 4, at 3 p.m.
