ARDEN HILLS, Minn.—Bethel University's women's basketball team set a new record for most points in a single game, as they topped the century mark against Bethany Lutheran College Wednesday night. The Royals (1-0, 0-0 MIAC) routed the Vikings (1-1, 0-0 UMAC) 101-53, just four days after BLC topped its first opponent 112-53.

Multiple student athletes had standout performances in BU's victory, including
Rachel Parupsky who recorded her first double-double of the 2013-14 season. Parupsky, who finished last year with eight double-doubles, recorded 19 points and 10 rebounds in 21 minutes played. Parupsky's sophomore sidekick,
Hannah Niewald, finished with 16 points, five assists, four rebounds, and three steals.

Freshman
Kalli Zimmermann had a sensational debut, as the forward from Champlin, Minn., finished 7-of-11 from the floor for 17 points and eight rebounds in 20 minutes. Â Zimmermann helped Bethel finish with 54 points in the paint and 17 second-chance points against the Vikings.

The Royals also capitalized on 25 BLC turnovers and converted that into 26 points-off-turnovers. Collectively, Bethel shot 54.4 percent from the floor and 40 percent from long range, while connecting on 19-of-27 free throw attempts.

BU's defense held Bethany Lutheran to 25 percent shooting and outrebounded the Vikings 47-24. The Royals bench outscored the Vikings 39-10.

Bethel will travel to River Falls, Wis. next Tuesday for a nonconference road matchup against the Falcons from UW-River Falls. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Karges Center.
