Jimmies Top Royals, 2-0

Jamestown College scored twice in the second period to take the win

Box Score

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Bethel University men's soccer team fell by a score of 2-0 at home on a frigid Wednesday afternoon to the Jamestown (N.D.) College Jimmies. The Jimmies scored twice in the second period, once early and once late to take the victory in the non-conference tilt.

The first half saw both teams just miss on several scoring chances including two posts hit by the Royals. Freshman Jake Opheim nearly scored his first career goal when he sent a shot over the goalie but just off the left post. Stephen Gronseth nearly scored when his header deflected off the cross bar and a series of Royals shots following that were blocked to keep them off the scoreboard. The Jimmies took advantage of a pair of opportunities in the second half and limited Bethel's shots as the Royals were going against the wind. The first Jamestown goal came five minutes into the second half and the final goal was scored with 8:32 remaining.

Bethel falls to 5-11 with the loss while Jamestown improved to 10-5-1. The Royals will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Hamline University for an MIAC battle with the Pipers. The contest will start at 1 p.m.
