WINONA, Minn. – The Bethel University men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision on the road to Saint Mary's University in frustrating fashion Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals scored early in the first half, one of just three shots on goal that SMU had in the game, while Bethel put seven shots on goal but were unable to find the back of the net.
SMU scored their lone goal at the 13:31 mark in the first period in what would be the only tally of the game. Bethel outshot SMU 15-10 in the game but the Cardinals goalie made seven saves to keep the Royals off the board.
The loss drops Bethel to 2-6 in the MIAC and 5-10 overall while the win was the first for Saint Mary's in MIAC play to improve to 1-6 and 4-10-1 overall. The Royals will return home to face Jamestown College in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday afternoon before traveling to Hamline University next Saturday.
