Royals struggle to find offense for second game in Iowa

INDIANOLA, Iowa –
The Bethel University men's soccer team was shutout for the second time in their season opening Iowa trip, falling 3-0 to Simpson College Sunday afternoon. The Royals were outshot 17-9 on the day and put just four shots on goal. Three of those shots were by Mishiah Toe (Fr., Maplewood, Minn.). Simpson scored their first two goals in the first period at the 25:19 and 28:57 marks. They tacked on the third goal in the second period at 77:54.

“We played much better than Friday,” said head coach Jeremy Iwaszkowiec. “We made some rookie mistakes but we will learn and get better.”

The Royals will head down Snelling Avenue Friday afternoon to face Northwestern College in search of their first win on the season. The Royals and Eagles will begin play at 4 p.m. Northwestern, from the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC), was shutout by St. Olaf 3-0 in their season opener. The Eagles are scheduled to take on another MIAC opponent, St. Thomas, Tuesday afternoon.
