Box Score

St. Paul, Minn. – The Bethel University men's soccer team gave a strong effort but unlike their female counterparts, where on the wrong end of a 2-0 score against Macalester College. Under the lights at Macalester Stadium, the Royals took 12 shots, but only two were put on goal and none were successful. Macalester scored both of their goals in the second half, one five minutes in and the other with just over five minutes remaining, to seal the victory.

“I thought we came out and competed well for 90 minutes,” said Royals head coach Jeremy Iwaszkowiec. “They scored their first goal off of a set piece and their goalkeeper made a great save to preserve the lead. It was unfortunate to concede the second goal at the end but I thought we played really well and I am proud of the boys tonight.”

The Royals will be on the road again this week as they travel for a non-conference tilt at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Tuesday. Friday Bethel heads to Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota as they enter the final stretch of the season.
