NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Looking for its first conference victory of the 2012 season, Bethel University traveled to Northfield Friday evening to take on Carleton College in a 7 p.m. showcase. The Royals fell short in the match 3-0, however, senior middle blocker
Amy Baumetz (Three Lakes, Wis.) hit a career benchmark by recording her 1,000th career kill.
BU finished the three games with 19, 19, and 20 points, respectively, and it was Carleton who owned the .231 attacking percentage, opposed to the Royals' .114.
Baumetz led Bethel in the three-game match, finishing the evening with eight kills and one block. Coming into the night, the Three Lakes, Wis. native was just six kills shy of 1,000 kills and it was the senior's sixth kill that welcomed her into the prestigious club.
Nicole Ackatz (Jr., Elkhorn, Wis.) had a solid performance for the Royals, finishing with seven kills and three blocks. Meanwhile
Caitie Helle (Sr., Onamia, Minn.) ended Friday's affair with five kills and four blocks.

The Royals slide to 9-6 overall and 0-3 in the MIAC following Saturday's 3-0 loss. Conference play continues for Bethel, as head coach
Gretchen Hunt and her squad welcome Gustavus and Hamline to Arden Hills next weekend for a Friday-Saturday showcase.
