Game Notes | [VIDEO]: Steve Johnson

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Bethel University kicks off Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) play this week, as the Royals welcome Carleton College to Royal Stadium for its second home game of the 2012 campaign. The 1 p.m. matchup looks to be an early fall contest, as the athletes will be competing in mid-50 degree weather.

The Knights enter Saturday's showdown with an unbeaten 2-0 record after overcoming two 14-point deficits, including Grinnell in week one and Hamline in week three. Carleton defeated the Pioneers 20-14 in overtime and scored 21 unanswered points against the Pipers to unend Hamline 21-14. The Northfield, Minn. team is under the new direction of interim head coach Bob Pagel, as well as new offensive coordinator Dick Tressel—brother of former Ohio State Coach Jim.

The Royals come into this MIAC battle allowing just seven points all season long and 172.5 yards per game. The BU defense has allowed minimal yards rushing, as opponents have averaged 51.0 yards on the ground. Meanwhile, Bethel's rushing attack has improved its rushing yards to 111.0 per game. Additionally, sophomore quarterback Erik Peterson (Orono, Minn.) has been remarkably accurate, completing 78 percent of his passes for 429 yards.
