Women's Tennis Falls to St. Thomas

Royals downed 6-3

MATCH RESULTS

ARDEN HILLS, Minn.
– The women's tennis team hosted the University of St. Thomas Wednesday afternoon at the Ona Orth Complex for a MIAC matchup. The Royals were looking to claim its first win in the last four matches, but fell just short, losing 3-6.

BU's number one doubles team, consisting of Steph Brown (Jr., Lake City, Minn.) and Lisa Scheevel (Jr., St. Cloud, Minn.) recorded an 8-5 win early to help get the Royals pumping right away. However, the number two and three teams fell in close matches 8-4 and 8-5, respectively.

Trailing 2-1 heading into singles play, the Royals were looking to take four for the win. The Tommies held tough until the end though, as BU was only able to muster two match victories. Kristin Vivian (Fr., Green Bay, Wis.) defeated her opponent 6-4, 6-1 in the number three singles competition, just before Kayla Wheeler (Jr., Oakdale, Minn.) routed her conference foe 6-2, 3-6, 10-6 in the number four battle. With the two individual wins Vivian improves to 9-5, while Wheeler gets to .500 with a 7-7 record.

Bethel will travel to St. Paul Saturday to take on Macalester, as the match against the Scots happens to be the only road contest scheduled within a seven-meet stretch.
