ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Bethel put on quite the shooting performance in nonconference action, as the Royals shot nearly 50 percent in Tuesday night's 91-84 victory over Buena Vista University. Taylor Hall finished the affair with his third consecutive double-double and 30-point performance.

BU jumped out to a 50-34 lead at the half, after spouting off a 17-6 run at the 8:46 mark. Hall finished the frame 7-of-9, while the rest of the Bethel offense contributed to the 19-of-36 (52.8 percent) effort. Other than Hall, it was Derek Wolhowe (Jr., Staples, Minn.) who added nine with six rebounds.

The second half was a story in and of itself, as the visiting Beavers did not go away quietly. Rather, trailing 55-37 with 18:32 to play, Buena Vista went on a 23-5 run over a ten-minute period to tie the game at 60-60. BVU never grabbed the lead, though, as a 3-pointer by J.D. Robinson (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.) and Taylor Hall gave Bethel some breathing room. In the final eight minutes of play, BU scored 31 points to secure the nonconference victory.

Hall finished the contest with 31 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal. Joining him in double figures was Derek Wolhowe, who finished 6-of-11 shooting for 21 points and seven boards. Robinson's 3-for-5 shooting from the perimeter added nine points, while Bjorn Westlund (Sr., Shoreview, Minn.) finished with eight.

As a team Bethel shot 49.2 percent, with a 3-point percentage of 53.6. Additionally, Bethel took advantage of BVU fouls, draining 84.2 percent of its shots from the charity stripe. Oddly enough, the Royals were edged in rebounds, second-chance points, points in the paint, and fast-break points—but it Bethel's shooting was too much for the Beavers in the end.

The Royals (2-1, 0-0 MIAC) will get a week's rest before traveling to Moorhead, Minn. next Wednesday to open conference play against Concordia College.
