ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - The Bethel women took the Cobber five sets on Wednesday night, deteating them by a final of 3-2. After getting a good start in the first set Bethel struggled to regain the momentum in the second and third sets, but they rebounded in the fourth and fifth to earn the win. The Royals are now 2-0 in the MIAC and 10-4 overall.
The Royal offense was led by the trio of Amy Werner (Jr., Three Rivers, Wis.),
Caitie Helle (Jr., Onamia, Minn.), and
Nicole Wriedt (Sr., Pewaukee, Wis.). The three combined for 42 kills on the night.
Kate Smith (Sr., Arden Hills, Minn.) had 42 assists in the five sets, while Valerie Smith (Jr., Alexandria, Minn.) had 29 digs. Also adding to the Bethel defense was
Haley Toter (Sr., Park Ridge, Ill.) and
Mallory Rundquist (So., Kasson, Minn.) with 15 and 16 digs respectively. As a team the Royals had 11 total team blocks.
The Bethel squad will continue to in conference action as they host Carleton on Friday.
