MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Royals continued a strong start to MIAC softball on Thursday as they won both games of their doubleheader against St. Kate's. Both games were close as Bethel came away from each with a 1 run lead, 8-7, 2-1 respectively.
Senior Rebecca Akerson (Lakeville, Minn.) was the major contributor for the Royals offense in game 1 with 4 RBI's. Akerson also was the winning pitcher for the Royals allowing 7 hits and 7 runs.
In game 2
Genna Bock (Jr., Circle Pines, Minn.) got the win for Bethel pitching a complete games. Bock allowed only 1 run on 6 hits, while walking 3. The Royals looked to
Rachel Gilbert,
Kelly Berg, and
Steph Vosberg for their offensive production. The 3 combined for 4 hits and 2 runs.
The Royals will be back at home on Saturday competing against St. Mary's. The Cardinals come into Saturdays match up with an overall record of 11-6, and are 4-3 in the MIAC. Bethel is currently 12-8 overall, and 3-1 in the MIAC.
