Softball Splits Home Opener Against Hamline

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - Bethel got play underway today, starting MIAC play against Hamline University. The Royals earned a split against the Pipers, losing the first 10-2 in 5 innings, and then winning 11-8 in the 6 inning game 2.

Hamline's Kelsey Tacheny got the win in game 1 for Hamline only allowing 4 hits and 2 runs, while walking 2. In game 2 the Royals got things on a roll in the 5th inning scoring 7, including a 3 run home run by Rachel Gilbert (So., Becker, Minn.). Genna Bock (Jr., Circle Pines, Minn.) got the win in game 2, with Rebecca Akerson (Sr., Lakeville, Minn.) getting the save.

With the split the Royals are now 10-8 overall, and 1-1 in the MIAC. Bethel's next action will come as they travel to take on St. Kate's on Thursday. The Royals will be back home Saturday versus St. Mary's.
