ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Royals suffered a 2-game setback against the St. Thomas Tommies on Sunday. The games were changed to Sunday due to weather conditions on Friday. Bethel lost the first game by a score of 3-11, and the 2nd 0-7.
Becky Akerson was the game 1 starter for the Royals. Akerson had a tough start as she was only able to go 1 inning, allowing 7runs on 7 hits.
Genna Bock came in to pitch the final 4.2 innings for Bethel. The Royals 3 runs came by a combination of 2 RBI's for
Rachel Gilbert, and 1 for Steph Vosberg.
In game 2 the Royals were unable to get base runners around the diamond and convert hits to runs. The Royals racked up 4 hits in game 2, leaving a total of 5 base runners on base.
Randi Thompson threw a complete game for Bethel. Thompson gave up 7 hits on and 7 runs, while strking out 3.
The Royals are looking at another week of dificult weather, but are currently scheduled for games on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. The Royals are still holding strong as the 3rd place team in the MIAC with a conference record of 7-3.
