Arden Hills, Minn. - The Royals continued their winning streak on Wednesday taking down the Macalester Scots in consecutive games. Bethel won both games in the double header by scores of 11-2, and 5-3 respectively.
The sweep now has Bethel on a 7 game winning streak. The impressive record puts the Royals 3rd in the MIAC conference standings, only behind the 12-0 St. Thomas Tommies, and the 8-0 Gustavus Gusties. Bethel's overall record sits at 16-8, while they are 7-1 in the MIAC.
In the first game of Wednesday's double header pitcher
Randi Thompson got the win pitching a complete game. Thompson struck out 5 batters, allowing only 2 runs on 3 hits. Bethel's offensive fire power continued to impress, as
Jess Newstrom, and
Kelly Berg each contributed 3 RBI's to the Royals cause.
Genna Bock took the mound for Bethel in game 2. Bock also threw a complete game to secure her 7the win of the season, she is now 7-0 with an era of 3.52. The Royals got their bats going in the 2nd and 5th innings, putting up 5 runs to defeat the Scots by 2 runs.
The Royals will take their winning streak on the road this weekend as they head over to St. Thomas on Saturday to take on the top team in the MIAC. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
