CLERMONT, FL - In day 2 of spring break competition the Royals got things started facing a difficult Concordia Wisconsin squad, going down by a final score of 12-2.
The Concordia Falcons looked to Holly Zinnecker and Jannelle Schroder who score a combined 5 runs. The Falcons were also able to spread out the remaining 7 runs amongst the team. 3 of Concordia's runs were unearned.
Sharing the pitching duties for the Royals were Rebecca Akerson (Sr., Lakeville, Minn.) and
Anja Erlandson (Jr., White Bear Lake, Minn.). Akerson got the start pitching 3 and 2/3 innings giving up 6 hits and 5 runs. Erlandson was brought in to throw the final 3 and 1/3 giving up 3 hits and 7 runs.
On offense Bethel was lead by
Rachel Gilbert (So., Becker, Minn.) and
Megan Matson (So., Mound, Minn.) who each contributed a run to the Royals effort. The Royals had 6 total hits in the game and left 5 on base. The Royals made 8 errors that came back to haunt them in this game. With the loss the Royals record moves to 1-4. This afternoon they will face Western New England College.
