Game Day Notes (PDF)
Another chapter in what has become a storied rivalry is scheduled to take place this weekend. The Bethel Royals will travel to Collegeville to take on the Saint Johns Johnnies on Saturday with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. In this series, the home team has won each of the last four seasons, and those four games have been decided by a combined 13 points.
The last time the home team did not win was in 2006 when the Royals topped the Johnnies 28-13 in Collegeville to win the MIAC Championship and advance to the NCAA Playoffs. This was also the only time Bethel has ever defeated the Johnnies on their home field. The last time the Royals played the Johnnies in Collegeville was 2009 where the Royals were downed by a field goal with less than 10 seconds to play.
Neither team was victorious last week as the Royals lost a Homecoming heartbreaker 30-28 to St. Olaf, while the Johnnies were defeated by St. Thomas 63-7 in St. Paul. According to D3football.com, the Royals are now ranked #9 in the nation with their 3-1 record, while the Johnnies are now 2-3 and are unranked.
