On Saturday, Bethel will travel down to St. Peter, Minn., to face the Gustavus Gusties in search of another MIAC victory. The Royals are now 2-1 in MIAC play and have had some success against the Gusties in recent years. Bethel has won four of the past five games, including a 20-0 Homecoming game shutout last year.
Gustavus is coming off a 37-0 victory over Hamline which was their first win of the year. The Gusties are now 1-4 overall and 1-2 in MIAC play. Watch for time of possession to play a factor in this game. Bethel leads the conference in time of possession, while Gustavus is currently ranks last in the category.
The Royals are not only the 9th ranked team in the country according to the latest D3fooball.com poll, but they are also 9th in rushing yards in all of NCAA Division III. Bethel leads the MIAC with more than 290 rushing yards per game. The Royals have three runners in the top 10 in yards-per-game in the conference;
Josh Aakre (Sr., Dawson, Minn.),
Brandon Marquardt (Fr., Champlin, Minn.), and
Jesse Phenow (So., Richfield, Minn.). Phenow had a phenomenal game last week and totaled over 130 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. His efforts led to being named MIAC Offensive Player of the Week.
