BOX SCORE
WINONA, Minn. - Trying to end their three-game losing skid, the Bethel Women's Basketball team headed down to Winona Wednesday evening to take on the Cardinals from Saint Mary's University. Turnovers proved costly as the Royals fell behind early and couldn't come back, falling 61-47.
The Cardinals could do no wrong in the game's opening 20 minutes, taking advantage of 12 Bethel first-half turnovers to race out to a 31-17 advantage heading into the break.
Taylor Sheley (Jr., Backus, Minn.) led the Royals with 8 first half points.
Fortunately for the Royals, they closed the scoring gap by going on a 18-4 run. What once was a blow-out, was turning into a competitive game. While the lead was within their grasp, the Royals could never fully take over, as Saint Mary's went on a 12-0 run that put the game away for good. Sheley netted 15 points and
Shana Grejtak (Sr., Franklin, Wis.) added 10 in the losing effort for Bethel.
The Royals have now dropped their last four games, all of which were conference games. With the lose, Bethel now moves to 8-8 overall and 6-7 in MIAC play. Bethel will travel to St. Thomas University Saturday where they will take on the Tommies at 1 p.m.
