ST. PAUL, Minn. - Over the weekend, the Royals' tennis team played a pair of matches and was finally able to get into the win column. On Friday night, the Royals traveled to the Fred Wells Tennis and Education Center at Fort Snelling to face the Tommies. The Tommies proved to be too much for the Royals winning the match 9-0.
Ashley Dohlen (Sr., Morris, Minn.) played a strong match winning a total of seven games against her opponent. Head Coach Dan Morton said the team earned some great points, just not enough of them in the long run.
On Saturday afternoon, Bethel was able to bounce back from Friday's loss and defeat Northwestern College of Iowa 9-0.
Ashley Watts (Sr., Winona, Minn.) and
Steph Brown (Fr., Lake City, Minn.) were able to earn their second victories of the season while the doubles team of Watts and
Krista Nauman (So., Buffalo, Minn.) won for the second time this year. "We were one shot better and played smart tennis from start to finish," said Morton.
With the win, Bethel's record now sits at 1-4 overall and 0-4 in MIAC play. Next up for the Royals is a match at Gustavus in St. Peter on Saturday, March 6, beginning at 9 a.m.
