Women Win Big Twice at Land of Magic Tournament

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Royals found their groove as they travel to Florida to compete in the Land of Magic tournament. On Wednesday the Royals took on Berry College of Georgia, the Royals defeated the Vikings 60-42. Then on Thursday the Royals faced York College of Pennsylvania, a game they won convincingly 70-47.

The Royals were originally scheduled to compete on Tuesday, but do to weather complicating travel for several teams the Royals ended up getting the day off, and added Thursday's game against York instead.

In their game against Berry the Royals shot for 44.6% from the floor compared to Berry who only shot for 34%. The Royals lead 19-15 at the half before turning up the heat in the second period out scoring the Vikings 41-27, to finish with the final score 60-42. Scottie Moats (So., Waconia, Minn.) and Shana Grejtak (Sr., Franklin, Minn.) lead the scoring for Bethel with 22, and 17 points respectively. The pair also lead the team in rebounds with 9 each.

The second game the Royals faced a good York squad who came into the tournament with record of 6-4. The Royals were even in the game putting up 35 point in each half. The Royals again improved their shooting this time putting up 52% from the floor. Grejtak and Moats again lead the Royals in this game. Grejtak had a big game scoring 24 points, while Moats accounted for 13. Grejtak also had 2 assists and 5 blocks in the game.

With the wins the Royals now improve their record to 3-4. The team will travel back to Minnesota and resume conference play against St. Catherine's on January 3rd in St. Paul.
